Easter concert – ensemble Projekt Lazarus

Published: 25.04.2019.

The ensemble Projekt Lazarus Easter concert program, which was held at the church of St. Mary on Dolac in Zagreb on 22nd April 2019 was presented in two parts. In the first part of the concert, the ensemble performed four-voices motets from the „Clio sacra“ – Davidicos psalmos vespertinis horis adscriptos musicis decantans (a collection of David’s Vespers) by Bonaventura Beretta, published in Venice in 1635. It is noteworthy that this collection was published within the contemporary edition Corpus Musicum Franciscanum, which publishes works of the Franciscan composers, in which Croatian musicologists also contributes. It is important fact that Bonaventura Beretta acted as an organist and the chaplain of the church of St. Dujam in Split and thus left a trace in Croatia. The ensemble Projekt Lazarus, under the artistic direction of maestro Darijan Ivezić, presented for the first time in contemporary history the parts of probably only preserved work of Beretta, presenting six psalms (Domine ad adjuvandum, Dixit Dominus, Confitebor tibia, Beatus vir, Laudate pueri, Laudate Dominum) and a hymn (Magnificat). In the second part of the concert, the ensemble performed Croatian Easter songs in the arrangement of well-known Croatian composers. The audience at the church of St. Mary at Dolac greet the performers with significant applause. Organizers of the concert are Croatian music centre and St. Mary on Dolac Parish. General sponsor is Tourist board of the City of Zagreb.
